What do you do in your role?
I am the perinatal mental health kaitiaki for Tūwharetoa Health. This perinatal space includes hapū māmā up until one year postnatal. Specifically, I work with māmā who may be experiencing or are at risk of experiencing distress. This distress is experienced at a mild to moderate level and with this we create plans to achieve goals, aspirations and a healthy, loving space for māmā and pēpi.
What do you like about your role?
I enjoy that I get to see the raw side to some of our whanau and build trusting relationships with māmā. I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with māmā and whanau in our community and support in any way I can.
How long have you been with Tuwharetoa Health?
I started during October 2021.
What made you choose to work in hauora?
I have a passion for māmā and pēpi and I love everything to do with hapūtanga and mental health. Our hauora is important for not only us but our generations to come so being able to make maybe even a little difference to one māmā is rewarding.
