What do you do in your role?
I am a Long Terms Conditions Registered Nurse
My role includes providing assessments, advice and information to help clients and their whanau better understand their condition or conditions. I assist them in managing their well-being. I enjoy utilising my experience to support clients by advocating for and connecting with health and well-being services to ensure that clients and whanau have optimum support and care to empower them to maintain independence and quality of life.
What do you like about your role?
I enjoy the mahi with the dedicated and passionate inter-disciplinary team at Tuwharetoa Health who all work together to achieve our philosophy “To improve the health of all who reside in the rohe of Tuwharetoa” – I also get great satisfaction from assisting clients in their homes identify and attain their healthcare/well-being goals, it is very rewarding to witness the sense of empowerment and mana clients gain when they acquire and implement strategies to take control of their healthcare pathway and begin to feel a greater sense of well-being

What made you choose to work in hauora?
I believe that the dimensions of Hauora, taha tinana (physical), taha hinengaro (mental/ emotional) taha whanau (social) and taha wairua (spiritual) and essential for the complete balance required to enhance well-being of the individual, whanau and the community as a whole. It recognises that all dimensions of our person is inter-connected just as we as people and community are connected to each other.
