Breastfeeding and Parenting Support for Tamariki Ora Wellchild

What do you do in your role?

My role is breastfeeding and parenting support for our Tamariki Ora Well Child service Part of my role is to go into the home and enrol our pepi into our service. This is a great opportunity to pick up any potential issues or problems the mama’s may be having. My mahi is closely interlinked with our Well Child Nurse who does the Core checks and visits.

What do you like about your role?

For me the mahi is all about supporting our whanau we work with and empowering then to make good choices  in raising their Tamariki.

How long have you been with Tuwharetoa Health?

I have been in my role since 2015 (7 years) and still have the love and passion that I started with.

What made you choose to work in hauora?

I have a background of 30 years nursing at Taupo Maternity and 15 years as a Lactation Consultant for Lakes DHB.
I believe this has contributed and complimented the mahi I now do with Tuwharetoa Health.
